01 — In short

Challenge

Skippers find out a marina is full when they arrive. Sailors named finding a berth their #1 pain.

What I did

Designed the mobile app from scratch, including the ~10-second arrival report and the vessel-status logic that reconciles crew reports and Vessel Finder data into one status sailors can act on. Helped design the web platform.

Result

Live and free on iOS and Android for 2026, now with weather and crew trip planning. A usability round with four skippers and charter owners is shaping what’s next.

2,100+destinations covered

100+sailors before launch

~10 sto report on arrival

02 — Decisions

Three calls behind the numbers.

  1. Validate with sailors before building

100+ sailors confirmed the core of the app: finding a berth.

  2. Three answers, one prompt, ten seconds

Space available, filling up, full: coarse enough that people actually report.

  3. Two data layers, reconciled

Crew reports and Vessel Finder each stay true or false on their own.
